Nebraska motorcycle helmet Laws

In Nebraska, all bike riders and passengers have to wear helmets. The helmet needs to have a chin strap so that it can be secured on the head at all times while riding.

As per Nebraska motorcycle helmet laws, both operators and passengers cannot ride a motorcycle or moped if they are not wearing a protective helmet. The helmet needs to be fitted with chin straps so that it does not fall off when the bike is in motion. The helmet should also have padding and lining that exceeds or meets federal safety guidelines.

According to the law, the helmet needs to be designed in a way to minimize the injuries to the rider that occur due to head impacts and protect them by deflecting blows and resisting penetration. The helmet must be manufactured for use by motorcycle riders.

Nebraska motorcycle helmet laws were enacted in 1989.When riding a motorbike in Nebraska, both riders and passengers must wear a helmet with such a secure chin strap under all circumstances. In contrast to a chin strap, Nebraska law mandates that the helmet include liner and padding that equals or exceeds federal safety standards.

Nebraska legislators were attempting to pass LB31, a bill that would remove the state’s helmet legislation entirely. Sen. Dave Bloomfield of Hoskins is the bill’s sponsor. If LB31 is passed, Nebraska will become just the fourth state in the nation without a motorcycle helmet law. The state would follow in the footsteps of Iowa, Illinois, and New Hampshire in not requiring helmets.
