Maryland motorcycle helmet Laws

According to Maryland helmet use laws, all drivers and passengers need to wear helmets as required by the state’s Motor Vehicle Administration. The helmet should have a factory-printed DOT label.

As per Maryland motorcycle helmet use laws, riders and passengers on a motorcycle are required to wear an approved helmet. Also, unless the bike has a windscreen, motorcyclists must wear eye protection. This law has been in effect since 1992.

It is compulsory to wear a helmet for riders under the age of 16 years while riding on public property, which includes trails, sidewalks, and roads. In some areas like Sykesville, bikers have to wear a helmet while riding a bicycle as well, no matter how old they are. In other areas like Montgomery County, motorcyclists under the age of 18 years must wear a helmet.

Maryland motorcycle helmet laws were established in 1992. As per this Law, People may not drive or ride a motorbike in Maryland when they are wearing a helmet that has been certified to fulfill the Department of Transportation’s requirements. Helmets offer protection but do not prevent accidents.

Helmets reduce and disperse the force caused by a hit or collision during a crash, protecting the wearer’s head and brain. Motorcycle riders and guests should wear an impact-resistant eye-protective equipment that meets the requirements of 21 CFR Section 801.410(d) of the Federal Food and Drug Administration (2). Face shields, goggles, and spectacles are examples of eye protection devices.
